Ofstad Visiting Scholar Program

Faculty

Although Ofstad courses are presented by Truman’s English, creative writing, and linguistics departments, they are designed to intersect all academic disciplines. We encourage our faculty to facilitate students’ interdisciplinary success by promoting these courses taught by our distinguished visiting scholars. Our scholars bring their research on a variety of topics not typically offered by full‑time faculty, and we ask that students expand the conversation by bringing their own thoughts, opinions, and experiences to the table. Courses run for no more than a single block, making them ideal for busy students who seek unique electives, and we’re happy to work with students who have scheduling conflicts. If you have students who might enjoy the interdisciplinary endeavors of our Ofstad courses (or if you’d like more information about upcoming offerings), we welcome your questions and referrals. Additionally, interdisciplinary courses such as these are only as richly varied as the minds that contribute to them, swe’d love to hear your suggestions for future classes. Feel free to browse the list of past workshops to get inspired!
