One of the most unique opportunities you’ll experience as an exercise science major at Truman involves the required completion of an internship or practicum experience. Under the supervision of highly qualified professionals, you’ll gain valuable experience and hands-on training or observation in an organizational setting.

The ES 250 practicum is a 40-hour experience offered in the fall, spring, summer, and interim sessions. The internship option for exercise science students is a 200-hour summer-only experience.  Students usually complete the internship during the summer between their junior and senior year.

All exercise science majors are required to complete a practicum or internship as an undergraduate at an agency or organization within their specific concentration area with the exception of students following the physical education/health concentration.*

*Physical education/health students complete ED 393-Classroom Experiences as undergraduates and a more intense teaching internship as part of their graduate degree requirements after they have been accepted into Truman’s Master of Arts in Education (MAE) program.
