Spring Opening

Each year, we have more and more students join us at semester.  This includes both new first-year and transfer students along with returning students coming back from an academic adventure (study abroad, internship, etc). Residence Life staff are prepared to make your move-in as easy as we can, so you can focus on preparing for the spring semester.

Spring opening is less structured than the Fall. It is important if you are moving on-campus for the Spring semester that you keep an eye on your email. The main way updates and changes will be communicated to you is through your Truman email.

When is my move in?

Both new and returning students will be able to move in starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 14. It is recommended that you arrive early in the day to move in, but you will be able to check in and receive your room keys as late as 5 p.m.

New international students should contact the Center for International Students for more information about their move-in.

Where do I go to check in?

To check in, you will need to go to your building’s hall desk between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up your move-in packet. This packet will have important information about how to get your student ID card, a Housing Condition Report, and your room keys.

Each residence hall’s hall desk can be found at the front entrance of each building, except for Campbell Apartments, whose hall desk is in Apartment 122. Students arriving before January 14 as an early arriver will need to follow the instructions communicated to them as a part of their registration to move in early.

What do I need to do on move-in day?

When you first get to your room, you will want to fill out the Housing Condition Report in your move-in packet. This form will allow you to describe any damages/general wear in your room so you are not charged for that when you check out of the room. Once it is filled out, the Housing Condition Report can be turned in to your Student Advisor.

Other than the Housing Condition Report, you will want to go to the ID Office in Missouri Hall 1100 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to have your student ID card made. You will need this card to get into the residence halls after 10:30 p.m. and to access your meal plan. If you cannot have your ID card made while the office is open on Sunday and Monday, you can stop by during their regular office hours (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) which begin on Tuesday, January 16.

Do I need a Truman ID?

Truman ID’s allow our resident students access to their residence hall during locking hours, are used by the cafeterias for the student meal plan, and will be used at the library, the Recreation Center, and for on campus printing.

To get your Truman ID please ensure you are signed up for classes at least 24 hours before you try to pick up your ID. To pick up your Truman ID go to the ID Office located at 1100 Missouri Hall.

Dining Options:

There will be no on-campus dining options available on Sunday, January 14 for students moving in that day. Students should arrange for their own meals until their student meal plan begins on Monday. Special dining hours will be held on Monday, January 15 in the Ryle Dining Hall:

• Breakfast: Closed
• Lunch: Closed
• Dinner: 4:30 -6:30 p.m.

Meal services on campus will fully reopen starting Tuesday, January 16.
