Biography

Truman
2017-18: As a redshirt freshman and sophomore, Hughes appeared in a combined 19 games without making a start ... fast forward to his redshirt-junior campaign and Hughes saw time in all 31 of the team's games (one of three Bulldogs to do so) and made the first seven starts of his career ... Hughes finished sixth on the team in scoring with 10 games of at least 10 points and one with 20 on Nov. 18 against top-ranked Northwest Missouri State ... proved to be a deadly shooter from deep as he converted on 43.1 percent (47-of-109) of his looks from behind the arc, which was second behind just Zach Fischer at 44.6 percent ... for his career, Hughes is now shooting 43.4 percent (56-for-129) from three-point land and that mark is good for fourth in program history ... the 5-11 guard scored 141 of his 237 points (nearly 60 percent) from three ... after not starting the season opener, he started the next six in a row and went for at least 10 points in three of them ... in his first two seasons of playing, Hughes averaged 2.1 and 3.3 points per game, respectively, before bumping that up to 7.6 in 2017-18 ... third on the team in total steals with 30 and steals per game with 1.0 ... also rebounded well for a guard with 80 total rebounds (fifth on the team) and 2.6 per outing (also fifth) ... didn't average more than seven minutes per game in each of his first two seasons before averaging over 21 in year three.

2016-17: Made an appearance in 10 games while averaging 3.3 points per game ... 22 of his 33 total points came in a monster performance vs. Central Christian on New Year's Eve ... that day, Truman splashed in a school-record 20 three-pointers and Hughes was responsible for seven of them ... the 5-11 guard was 7-of-9 from three-point land to go with one free throw make, a rebound and one assist ... prior to that day, Hughes had never scored more than six points in a game and that also came against Central Christian ... the Lee's Summit, Mo. native was six of his first six from distance ... played well in the exhibition at Creighton with eight points on three field goals, including a pair of three-pointers, to go with two rebounds in 10 minutes of action.

2015-16: Made an appearance in just nine games with a total of 60 minutes played or 6.7 per contest ... averaged 2.1 points, 0.6 assists and 0.6 rebounds per ... played a career-high 24 minutes against Central Christian on Nov. 18 when he had six points on 3-of-6 shooting to go with four assists ... made three of his seven total field goals in that one game ... named all-Academic GLVC.

2014-15: Redshirted.

High School
Was a three-sport athlete at Summit Christian Academy, where he competed in basketball, basebal, and football ... was the school leader in career points in basketball, while also being named all-conference and all-district three times each ... was also all-conference and all-district in baseball.

Born in Independence, Mo., and is the son of Danan and Tifanni Hughes ... has four siblings ... plans to study Biology at Truman.
