KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team dropped the hammer early on the Maryville Saints to win their third straight game. Courtney Strait and Michalina Tomczak both hit a pair of career milestones in the 80-60 win.

The Bulldogs move to 13-6 overall and 7-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Saints lost their fifth straight to fall to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

How It Happened:
  • Linnea Schmelzer and Brooke Bailey provided the early spark for the Bulldogs who trailed 6-4 in the first quarter.
  • Bailey's bucket at the 5:13 mark of the quarter gave Truman the lead for good at 11-9. She then got an offensive rebound and putback to push the lead back out to five.
  • Schmelzer buried a three-pointer off a pass by Bailey for an eight-point Bulldog lead.
  • Truman would close the quarter on a 24-4 run and scored 16 of the last 17 to lead 25-10 at the end of one.
  • The Bulldogs would knock down five three-pointers during that run and finished with eight for the game.
  • Courtney Strait became the 20th Bulldog player to eclipse 1,000 career points with her jumper early in the second.
  • The Saints went scoreless from the field from the 5:36 mark of the first quarter until the 6:18 point of the second quarter. The drought was bookend by three-pointers from Stephanie Sherwood.
  • Truman led by 23 at the half and expanded the lead out to 30 before the Saints trimmed 10 off that lead by the end of the third quarter.
  • Despite the large lead, the fourth quarter turned into a free throw shooting contest. A total of 24 foul shots were attempted after the previous three quarters had a total of 22.
