Box Score (PDF)
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - -
The Truman men's basketball team recorded 22 assists on the team's 28 made field goals, riding a 16-point halftime lead to an 81-67 victory on Saturday afternoon against Maryville University in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Bulldogs (14-5, 6-3 GLVC) closed a perfect 2-0 weekend by leading for nearly 39 of the 40 minutes of game action against Maryville (7-12, 1-8 GLVC). Truman hit six three-pointers in each half, finishing with a dozen at a 43% clip, helping the purple and white finish with a 47.5% shooting line for the game, as the 'Dogs hit 28-of-59 field goals.

Senior guard Andrew Vander Zwaag scored a game-high 21 points, hitting 8-of-11 field goals, which included a 5-of-7 mark from three-point range. He added a career-high four steals in his 20 minutes of work. Junior forward Connor Erickson added 18 points and three blocks, while junior guard Cory Myers was the third Bulldog in double-figures offensively, finishing with 15 points. He added five assists but the top honors of the day went to junior guard Dwight Sistrunk, Jr., who tied his career-high with eight assists to just one turnover. He added seven points and three steals in 28 minutes.

Truman led by as many as 25 early in the second half, but the Saints battled back to make it just a ten point lead for the 'Dogs at 70-60 with 4:48 to play. However, the Bulldogs never let the lead creep below double-figures, as a fast 7-0 spurt pushed the lead back to 17, guiding the Bulldogs to the 81-67 final tally.

The Bulldogs hit the mid-way point of conference play one game back in the GLVC West division standings, as Truman and Drury both sit at 6-3 – one game back of division-leading Quincy at 7-2.  Truman will return to action on Thursday (Jan. 28) night, as the purple and white kick off a four-game road trip at Missouri S&T, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Rolla.
