Bulldogs See Streak Snapped at No. 9 Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE - - The 9th-ranked Bellarmine men's basketball team jumped all over the Truman men in the first half and kept the Bulldogs at bay, as Truman's eight-game win streak came to a halt in an 86-57 defeat at BU's Knights Hall on Thursday night.
 
The Bulldogs (12-4, 4-2 GLVC) trailed by just two possessions at 24-18 with 10:24 to play in the opening half, but BU (12-2, 5-0 GLVC) scored 14 of the next 16 points to take a 38-20 lead with 5:43 on the first half clock. After trailing 47-30 at the break, the Bulldogs came out of the locker room and cut the deficit to 13 at 51-38, but a 9-0 run that spanned nearly four full minutes pushed the home team's lead back to 22 at 60-38 with 13:45 to play. The Knights would then extend the lead and finish with the 29-point victory.
 
Redshirt junior guard Cory Myers led all Bulldogs with 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting (1-2 3FG; 6-6 FT). Junior guard Kyle Kanaskie and redshirt junior guard Dwight Sistrunk, Jr., each added nine points, with Sistrunk Jr., lead all Truman players with four assists.
 
For the game, Truman shot 35.8% from the floor, which included a 4-of-20 mark from three-point range.  The Bulldogs hit 15-of-19 free throws at a nearly-79% clip, although the purple and white were out-rebounded by a 40-25 total.
 
The Bulldogs will look to start a new win streak this Saturday afternoon on the final game of the two-match trek through the GLVC East division, as Truman battles Southern Indiana at 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 16 in Evansville, Ind.
