KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The #21-ranked Drury (Mo.) Lady Panthers jumped out to a 10-2 lead and led wire-to-wire in defeating the Truman Bulldogs 74-60 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game on Thursday night on the road.

The Bulldogs pulled back to within four on two separate occasions early with Courtney Strait connecting from three and Allie Norton making two of three free throw attempts. The lead bounced between five and seven points in the first 20 minutes until Sanaykia Shields made a couple of throws to send Drury into the locker room with a 33-24 advantage.

Truman scored six out of the first eight points of the second half but a three-pointer by Addy Roller followed by a swipe and steal by Shelby White led to a fast break bucket and the Lady Panthers' first 10-point advantage.

Norton cut the cords from three as Truman scored five straight trim the lead in half at 42-37.

Later, consecutive threes from Alice Heinzler pushed the margin out to a dozen points and a conventional three-point play by Roller gave Drury their largest lead at 13 with 10 minutes left to play.

Truman fought back and Norton's second triple with 3:06 to play closed the gap to six at 62-56. The Bulldogs had two straight possessions to get closer but a pair of Kasey Gassensmith's shots fell off the mark.

The Lady Panthers, the top free throw shooting team in the GLVC at 81.8%, went a perfect 14-of-14 from the stripe in the second half to close it out.

Norton led three Bulldogs in double scoring with 15 points followed by 11 apiece from Strait and Michalina Tomczak.  Truman had six made field goals in the first half to 11 turnovers and finished with 18 field goals on 50 attempts for 36% and were 4-of-19 from outside (21.1%).

Annie Armstrong led Drury with 18 points with Shields and Roller finishing with 11 as well. Drury shot 43% for the game and made 21-of-23 from the free throw line.

Truman will continue their road trip on Saturday afternoon at Missouri S&T. The Miners were defeated by the Quincy (Ill.) Lady Hawks on Thursday night 68-52. Tip off from Rolla, Missouri is scheduled for 1 p.m.
