The First Pitch:
After moving up four more spots in this week's NFCA top-25 coaches' poll, the No. 21 Truman softball team takes to the road this Saturday and Sunday, visiting Rockhurst and William Jewell for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders.

The Bulldogs (26-5, 16-2 GLVC) have gone 8-0 since the last set of game notes, picking up three straight GLVC sweeps of Quincy (9-0 & 6-3), Missouri S&T (8-0 & 8-0), and Drury (2-1 & 3-0), while also taking care of former MIAA-rival Northwest Missouri by scores of 1-0 and 4-1. This latest stretch has sent the Bulldogs to 24 wins in the team's last 26 games – broken up only by two one-run losses at current GLVC West division leader Missouri-St. Louis on March 23.

Truman has been on a tear both offensively and defensively this season, hitting .353 at the plate, while the tandem of Kindra Henze and Kelsea Dorsey have limited opponents with just a 1.06 combined ERA. The Bulldogs' fielding has been the league's best as well, converting on 97.2% of its defensive chances. All three totals led the GLVC's 16 teams entering this week's action.

Erin Brown is in her eighth season at the helm of the Bulldog program, having compiled a 170-196 record at her alma mater. The club's 16-game win streak earlier this season marked the longest during her tenure.

These Stats are on Fire:
After tying the school record in runs and setting new standards in home runs, batting average, and slugging percentage in 2013, the 2014 squad is on pace to smash long-standing offensive and defensive single-season records once again.

This year's team is on pace to score 310 runs (current high: 272), log 482 hits (CH: 463), tally 272 RBI (CH: 249), and record 714 total bases (CH: 680). In addition, the club is hitting .353 as a team so far (CH: .317), while the pitching staff is on pace for 332 strikeouts (CH: 326).

#1 in Sight:
Senior OF Kelsey Bollman needs just one more double to tie program-leader Kristi Bredbenner's career-total of 55 for the top spot on the all-time chart. She recently passed Elizabeth Economon to move into second-place on that chart and ranks sixth amongst all active softball players at the NCAA level (all three divisions). The current leader has 71 career doubles, but Bollman trails both Katie Hines (Texas Woman's, Div. II) and Jennifer Gilbert (Ball State, Div. I) by just two for fourth on the active chart.

Mama Said Shut You Out:
Truman's 15 shutouts this season are the most a Bulldog squad since 2004, with sophomore Kindra Henze needing just two more to tie Jennifer Hulsopple's single-season record of 12 – set in 1999.

The program single-season high of 23 came in the 1999 season, as that year's squad posted a 46-11 record.

Bulldogs Spend Second Straight Week in Top-25:
Shortly after last week's notes were released, Truman found itself ranked No. 25 in the NFCA top-25 coaches' poll, with their position rising four spots to No. 21 this week.

The Bulldogs were joined by No. 10 UMSL as the GLVC's representatives in the top-25, with both Indianapolis and Bellarmine receiving votes outside the top-25.

Fellow Midwest region conference, the GLIAC, had just one member represented in this week's poll – Wayne (Mich.) State at No. 6.

Bulldogs Picked Third in GLVC West Preseason Poll:
The Bulldogs will kick off its inaugural season as a GLVC member having been picked third in the West division in the league's preseason poll. Selected by all 16 conference coaches, the preseason poll landed Truman (89 points) just three points behind second-place William Jewell (Mo.) in the West division, with both squads trailing preseason favorite Missouri-St. Louis.

UMSL, who claimed its first-ever GLVC Championship last season en route to a spot in the NCAA Midwest Regional, received 120 points and was the league's unanimous selection to win the West. Drury (Mo.), Quincy (Ill.), Missouri S&T, Rockhurst (Mo.), and Maryville (Mo.) round out the eight-team West division.

Up Next:
The Bulldogs will return to Kirksville for a pair of cross-division doubleheaders next weekend, with Truman set to play host to both Southern Indiana (Saturday) and Bellarmine (Sunday). The first pitch both days is slated for 12 p.m
