KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Seniors Seth Jackson and Reed Mells combined for 31 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and eight steals to help highlight an 84-42 doubling up of Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) on Wednesday afternoon in Pershing Arena.
 
The Bulldogs (9-2) never trailed in the contest, and built a 22-point lead at the break before coasting to the 42-point victory. Truman forced HLG (2-8) into 23 turnovers and scored 24 points off Trojan miscues, while also out-scoring HLG 32-18 in the paint.
 
For the game, Truman hovered around the 50% mark from the floor – finishing at 51.7% on 31-of-60 shooting. The Bulldogs hit 21-of-31 attempts (68%) of their two-point tries and went just 10-for-29 (34.5%) from three-point range. Meanwhile, HLG shot just 34.7% overall from the field, including a 5-for-14 mark from long-range.
 
Jackson's game-high 18 points came in 27 minutes of work, as the GLVC's leading scorer added five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Meanwhile, fellow senior backcourt mate Mells filled the stat sheet across the board – scoring 13 points and adding six rebounds, six assists, and five steals in 29 minutes of action. Junior Andrew Vander Zwaag also reached double-figures with10 points, with junior Cole Myers, and sophomores Cory Myers and Connor Erickson chipping in nine points apiece. Freshman Connor Lusso added eight points and seven rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes.
 
The Bulldogs out-rebounded HLG 36-29 and turned eight offensive rebounds into 10 second-chance points. Truman also handed out 20 assists as a team and added 16 steals while committing just nine turnovers.
 
Truman closes the 2014 portion of the calendar at 9-2 and will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference action this Friday (Jan. 2) night at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Wisconsin-Parkside. The Rangers (8-1, 0-0 GLVC) are receiving votes in the NABC top-25 and come to Kirksville as winners of four straight.
