RENSSELAER, Ind. – Saint Joseph's (Ind.) quarterback Wade Burtron completed 12-of-13 passes including second half touchdown throws of 60 and 65 yards as the Pumas defeated the Truman Bulldogs in the season finale 35-9.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start with Zach Tobin completing a 15-yard pass to Jared Haferbier on third and six and on the next play Garrett White broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run and a 6-0 lead. White's run secured the fifth best career rushing total in Truman history as he passed Lenvil Elliott in the process of the touchdown run.

Truman turned it over on downs on their next two possessions inside the Puma's 30 yardline.  After stopping the Bulldogs at their own 25, Saint Joseph's changed the pace with a hurry-up offense and marched down the field in 10 plays and took the lead on a four-yard run by Mike Anderson.

Chico Orlando had a big first half with seven catches with his biggest grab going for 33 yards down to the Puma's four on the ensuing possession. The Bulldogs ran seven plays inside the Saint Joseph's 10 but had to settle for three points with Roger Howard connected from 25-yards out to give Truman a 9-7 lead.

The Pumas responded with Burtron completing a 30-yard pass on third and 14, converting a fourth and two from Truman's 30 and a 29-yard completion to Jose Esquivel to set-up Braxton Shelton's one-yard score to make it 14-9 at the half.

It was the big plays that doomed the Bulldogs in the second half. Kobi Cook's 60-yard run flipped the field after the Pumas started the third quarter from their own 10. That run would be followed by a seven-yard scamper by Burtron for a 21-9 lead.

Truman again turned ball over on downs inside the Pumas' 30 after Ben Wellman returned the kickoff 31 yards to the Saint Joseph's 33 yardline.

As the fourth quarter started, Saint Joseph's faced a third and seven from their own nine and Burtron found Joey Bishoff for a first down on a 15-yard reception. Three plays later, Alphonso Hines hauled in a 60-yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 28-9.

Tobin was intercepted by Drew Byrd on the Bulldogs next offensive play and Burtron wasted no time finding Esquivel on the flea-flicker for a 65-yard strike to put the game away.

Esquivel had two receptions for 94 yards while Burtron threw for 251 on the day. The Pumas racked up 473 yards on total offense on 58 plays, for an average of 8.1 yards per play.

After his 46-yard touchdown, White was held in-check gaining just 17 more yards on the day to finish with 63. Orlando set career highs with eight receptions for 80 yards in his final game as a Bulldog and Tobin completed 18-of-38 passes for 157 yards.

White wrapped up his remarkable career with 1,166 yards rushing for the season and 2,829 yards for his career. His 33 career rushing touchdowns and 38 total scores puts him in fourth place in Truman all-time TD lists.

Another career record was set on Saturday with punter Jacob Lamp. With four punts for 194 yards during the game, Lamp set the career punting average record with a 40.7 yards per punt mark breaking Bob Fletcher's 40.5 average set in 1979.

The Bulldogs finish with their second-straight winning season and again tie for second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
