Swim Squads Split Dual with Lions

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Three first-place finishes for Casey Jepsen and Alison Strickler highlighted a dual split for the Truman swimming teams on Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldog women defeated Lindenwood 149-113 while the men fell 179-83 to the Lions.

Jepsen logged first-place finishes in the 100 Freestyle (53.27), 200 Freestyle (1:55.41) and as part of the 400 Free Relay unit (3:36.97). Also part of the 400 Free Relay squad was Strickler, who also earned first-place finishes in the 50 Freestyle (25.21) and as part of the 200 Medley Relay (1:50.05).

Abby Hempen and Hannah Nicks each picked up a pair of first-place finishes, with Hempen touching the wall first in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.60) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:23.68) and Nicks logging the top spot in the 100 Backstroke (1:00.00) and as part of the 400 Free Relay.

Margaux Kent (100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke) added a pair of second-place finishes on the afternoon as well.

On the men's side, Neil Girmus (1:00.55) and Lars Winkelmolen (1:01.40) finished 1^st and 2^nd in the 100 Breaststroke, while George Dowdy (22.29) touched first in the 50 Freestyle.

The Bulldogs return to the pool next Saturday (Oct. 26) when the men play host to William Jewell and St. Louis University and the women welcome William Jewell and Maryville. Start time for both is set for 1:00 pm.
