Women Cruise To Win Over UNK

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Women's Basketball team took care of business early and moved to 7-2 in the MIAA with a 60-48 victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night in Pershing Arena. Becka McHenry led the Bulldogs with 13 points.
 
After falling behind 2-0, the Bulldogs raced away for a 24-8 lead midway through the first period while holding the Lopers to just 14% shooting. Truman led by 22 at the break but then hit an offensive snag in the second shooting 23% from the field and managing 24 points.
 
Sophomore Allie Norton moved into a tie for eighth position for career three-pointers as she buried three on the night. Norton went over the century mark in triples and is now tied with Sarah Sommer with 102 makes in her first two seasons in the Truman uniform. Norton finished with 11 points in 29 minutes.
 
McHenry nearly notched her first double-double of the season as she grabbed nine rebounds to go with her 13 points.
 
Truman extended their home court winning streak to 12 games.
 
Ivy Jones paced the Lopers with 23 points.
 
The Bulldogs will welcome the 12-4 Fort Hays (Kan.) State Tigers in a huge conference game on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Following the game, the Bulldogs will sign autograph posters for all in attendance.
