Box Score | Season Stats

SEARCY, Ark. - - Three second half goals – one apiece for Andy Chapman, Felix Bruner and Tony Luedecke – gave the Truman men's soccer team a 3-1 MIAA win at Harding on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (5-3-1, 3-1-1 MIAA) fell behind within the game's first 60 seconds, as Harding's Ryan Wilhelm scored an unassisted goal to put the Bison (4-5-1, 2-3 MIAA) ahead. After out-shooting HU 8-4 in the first half, the 'Dogs finally broke through in the second half when Chapman (St. Louis, Mo., Fort Zumwalt South) notched his team-high fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute off a Will Hayes (Clayton, Mo., Clayton) assist.

Then, in the 78th minute, freshman Felix Bruner (Quincy, Ill., Quincy) scored his first collegiate goal off the first of Charlie Backus' two assists of the day to give Truman a 2-1 win. Only four minutes later, Tony Luedecke (O'Fallon, Mo., John F. Kennedy) scored his third of the season with Backus (St. Louis, Mo., CBC) adding his MIAA-high seventh assist for an additional piece of insurance and a 3-1 Bulldog lead.

Truman out-shot Harding 19-8 overall, as the Bulldogs closed a six match road trip (five against MIAA schools) with a 4-1-1 overall mark. Drew Garrone (Chesterfield, Mo., Lafayette) entered in relief of Nick Wallner (St. Louis, Mo., SLU High) in the 65th minute and earned the win in net.

The Bulldogs return to Kirksville for a 4:00 pm home non-conference match on Wednesday (Oct. 3) against Rockhurst (Mo.). The Hawks entered Sunday with a 6-1-2 overall record prior to a home match against Illinois-Springfield in Kansas City.
