KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - A pair of key MIAA road contests loom for the No. 23 Truman women's soccer team this weekend, as the Bulldogs travel to 25th-ranked Central Oklahoma and unbeaten Northeastern (Okla.) State on Friday and Sunday.

The Bulldogs, who debuted in the NSCAA top-25 coaches' poll this week thanks to a five-match win streak, face the No. 25 UCO Bronchos (6-1, 1-0 MIAA) and the NSU Riverhawks (5-0, 1-0 MIAA) for the only time during the regular season this weekend.

Truman will be looking to continue its hot play on both ends of the field, as the Bulldogs have picked up five consecutive shutout victories while averaging more than two goals per game during the stretch. Junior keeper Emily Bozdeck, coming off an MIAA athlete of the week award for women's soccer, has run her shutout streak to 463 minutes in lowering her goals-against average to 0.33 on the season. The Bulldog back line of junior Kelsey Ridgway, sophomore Lauren Seawright, freshman Jessica Hanson and the tandem of junior Sally Smith and senior Stasia Montgomery have forced Bozdeck into making just 18 saves in six matches.

In the attacking third, junior Trisha Shoemaker continues to lead the Bulldogs in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13), with three of her five goals counting as game-winners. Senior Kelsey Twellman and junior Kristina Weishar each recorded a multi-goal match during the weekend, while senior Olivia Hayes ranks third in points with a pair of goals and assists.

Mike Cannon is in his 20th season at the controls of the women's soccer program at Truman and has a career record of 258-91-37. He ranks seventh all-time in NCAA Div. II history in wins, and his teams have won 10 or more matches in 17 straight seasons.

Bulldogs Join Top-25:
The Bulldogs jumped into the NSCAA top-25 coaches' poll this week, debuting at No. 23 as one of just two MIAA teams listed in the poll. Weekend opponent UCO sits at No. 25, while Central Missouri is receiving votes just outside of the top-25.

Career Chart Check:
Three Bulldogs continue to make noise on the Truman all-time charts, as seniors Olivia Hayes and Kelsey Twellman, along with junior Emily Bozdeck, inch their ways up a variety of different lists.

Hayes moved into third all-time in shots last week, as her 10 in two matches pushed her to 199 overall, passing Kathy Corson (1989-92). She needs 69 to catch Shauna Putnam (1987-90) for second. In addition, her 24 career goals are just three back of Jessica Wiegert (2006-09) for seventh, and her 60 points sit just five behind Jill Benson (1994-97) for ninth.

Twellman is close to cracking the all-time top-ten in assists, as her 17 is just one behind recent graduate Megan Buri (2008-11) for tenth. Kelsey also jumped two spots to fifth all-time in career shots, now with 159. She is 23 behind Carie Toczylowski (1994-97) for fourth.

Bozdeck, meanwhile, in her first full season as a starter, is already up to eighth all-time in career shutouts with 10, just one behind Lisa Schmalz (2002-04) for 7th and three back of Emily Roark (2005-07) for 6th.

Checking Out the Competition:
#25 Central Oklahoma “Bronchos” (6-1, 1-0 MIAA)
The 25th-ranked Bronchos jumped out to a 6-0 start and reached as high as No. 10 in the NSCAA top-25 poll before dropping a 2-1 home decision to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday, Sept. 16 in their last match. UCO hosts Truman on Friday before welcoming Lindenwood on Sunday.

UCO has scored 19 goals in seven matches this season and has allowed just five goals from opponents behind three shutouts. Brittni Walker is the top threat offensively, as the senior forward leads the Bronchos in goals (6), assists (2) and points (14). Five other players have tallied two goals apiece. Senior Megan Burke has seen the majority of time in net, posting a 0.68 goals-against average with 27 saves and a 5-1 record.

The Bulldogs will be meeting UCO for the sixth time in program history, with Truman holding a 3-1-1 all-time series lead. Truman defeated UCO on a neutral site 2-1 last season and won in Edmond 2-1 in 2010.

Mike Cook is in his 14th season at the helm in Edmond and has a 220-73-16 record with the program.

Northeastern (Okla.) State “Riverhawks” (5-0, 1-0 MIAA)
Out to an undefeated start in 2012, Northeastern State welcomes Lindenwood (Friday) and Truman to Tahlequah this weekend. The Riverhawks opened league play last weekend with a 4-2 home win against Missouri Southern.

The Riverhawks have been strong on both ends of the field, having scored 18 goals in five matches to go with just two surrendered. NSU started the season with shutouts in each of its first four matches.

Senior Rachel Sordahl leads the league with eight goals, while two others have scored three each. Hannah Brudzinski has played most of the time in goal and has a 0.50 GAA.

The Bulldogs have played NSU just twice all-time but are 2-0 in those matches. The most recent meeting came in 2007 – a 1-0 Bulldog win in Warrensburg, Mo., at a neutral site.

Chase Wooten is in his third season as the program's head coach.
