Live Stats

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman women's soccer team begins MIAA play this weekend with a pair of home matches, beginning on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 pm against Missouri Western. The Bulldogs then host Northwest Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 pm.

The Bulldogs (3-1) are currently riding a three-match winning streak – each shutouts – after picking up a pair of road wins last weekend. Truman used a goal in the third minute of overtime to get past Augustana (S.D.) on Friday, Sept. 7, before blitzing Sioux Falls with three goals in the first 15 minutes en route to a 3-0 win on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Junior Trisha Shoemaker continued her torrid start to the 2012 season by scoring the game-winner in both contests, as she has now scored in each of Truman's first four matches this year. Shoemaker performed the same feat last season during a four-match stretch from Oct. 6-20 and now has scored 12 goals in her 22 matches as a Bulldog.

In addition to Shoemaker, two other usual suspects find themselves atop Truman's points list, as senior Olivia Hayes has scored twice and added an assist, and senior Kelsey Twellman has tallied both a goal and an assist.

Meanwhile, on the defensive side, junior Emily Bozdeck is riding a nearly 284 minute shutout streak, including three straight blanks against Winona, Augustana and Sioux Falls. She has a goal-against average of 0.50 and has made 12 saves on the season.

Mike Cannon is in his 20th season at the controls of the women's soccer program at Truman and has a career record of 256-91-37. His 256 wins ranks seventh all-time in NCAA Div. II history, and his teams have won 10 or more matches in 17 straight seasons.

It's Fun to Play in the M-I-A-A:
The MIAA's all-time winningest program begins league play for the 14th, and final, time this weekend, as Truman carries a program record of 123-19-18 (.825) into this weekend's MIAA doubleheader.

Truman has won the MIAA championship nine times and has put up five undefeated league slates. Four players have been named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player, while a league-high 122 players have been named all-conference – an average of nearly 10 per season. In addition, 52 different players have received MIAA Player of the Week accolades.

Career Chart Check:
Three Bulldogs continue to make noise on the Truman all-time charts, as seniors Olivia Hayes and Kelsey Twellman, along with junior Emily Bozdeck, inch their ways up a variety of different lists.

Hayes ranks fourth all-time in shots with 189, one behind Kathy Corson (1989-92) for third. Her 24 career goals are just three back of Jessica Wiegert (2006-09) for seventh, and her 60 points sit just five behind Jill Benson (1994-97) for ninth.

Twellman is close to cracking the all-time top-ten in assists, as her 17 is just one behind recent graduate Megan Buri (2008-11) for tenth. Kelsey is also 10th in career shots with 155, one back of Jocelyn Parisi (1995-98) and three back of Anna Sonderman (2001-04).

Bozdeck, meanwhile, in her first full season as a starter, is already up to ninth all-time in career shutouts with eight, just two back of Leah Hollcroft (1991-94).

Checking Out the Competition:
Missouri Western “Griffons” (2-2, 0-0 MIAA)
Missouri Western hits the pitch for two matches this weekend as well, starting with a trip to Kirksville on Friday for its match against Truman before continuing on to St. Charles, Mo., for a 2:30 pm battle with Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon.

The Griffons are coming off a 2-0 win against Graceland (Iowa), the #16 program in the NAIA ranks, on Sunday but are 0-1 away from St. Joseph this year after a 3-1 loss at William Jewell on Sept. 4. Katie Kempf has scored three of the Griffons' five goals this season, while K.C. Ramsell is responsible for three assists and a team-best eight shots. Kelly Voigt has spent all 360 minutes in net, posting a GAA of 1.25 and a .853 save percentage.

The Bulldogs are 11-0-2 all-time against Missouri Western, having picked up a 1-0 win in the teams' only meeting last season in Kirksville.

Chad Edwards is in his second season at the helm in St. Joseph, having compiled a career mark of 6-12.

Northwest Missouri “Bearcats” (2-1-1, 0-0 MIAA)
Like Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri also opens this weekend with the eastern-most MIAA schools, starting on Friday night at Lindenwood before traveling to Kirksville for a Sunday afternoon battle with the Bulldogs.

The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 2-0-1 mark through three games before a 2-1 setback at home to Winona State last weekend. The team's offensive numbers appear a bit inflated thanks to a nine-goal game against Newman (Kan.), but four players have scored at least two goals this season. Both Victoria Von Mende and Chelsea Fournier have three goals apiece, while Amanda Bondurant is the team assist leader with a pair.

Kelsey Adams has played every minute in goal, posting a 1.85 GAA and a .784 save percentage.

The Bulldogs are 23-0-2 all-time against Northwest, having picked up a 0-0 draw in Kirksville and a 2-0 win in Maryville last season.

Tracy Hoza is in her 10th season as the head coach in Maryville, having compiled a 63-91-22 mark at the school.

Up Next:
The Bulldogs return to Kirksville for Family Weekend, as the purple and white host Missouri Western to open MIAA play on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 pm before welcoming Northwest Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 pm.
