Game Preview:

The Bulldog women's basketball team will begin a two-game MIAA road swing on Saturday as they will face the Pittsburg State Gorillas at 1:30 p.m. from John Lance Arena.  The Bulldogs were 71-58 winners over Missouri Southern while the Gorillas fell to Missouri Western 73-55 in MIAA openers on Wednesday night.

Missouri Southern held a six-point advantage for nearly seven minutes of the first half against the Bulldogs but once again the Truman bench played a key role in getting the team on track.  Freshman Nicole Gloor scored six straight points in a Truman 11-0 run to give the Bulldogs a lead they would not relinquish at the 6:48 mark of the first period.

The Truman bench followed last Saturday's 50 point showing with another 33 on Wednesday night.  Starter Breanna Daniels had 16 points while Gloor added 15 for the victorious 'Dogs.  Senior Amy Galey tied a career high with nine assists and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds.

Daniels and Gloor both average in double figures for Truman with Daniels ranked second in the MIAA in scoring at 17.8 ppg.  Gloor is second at 10.3 points while Galey is tied for the conference lead in assists per game at 5.5.

The 'Dogs as a team are second in the league in field goal percentage at 42% and first in free throw shooting at 82.8%.

Pittsburg State is 2-3 on the young season and have lost their last two games, 71-56 at Central Oklahoma and 73-55 to Missouri Western.

Drew Roberts leads the Gorillas in scoring and is 11th in the MIAA at 13.8 points per game.  Roberts has two, 21-point game performances through five games.

Against the Griffons on Wednesday night, Roberts was held to just 11 points as Missouri Western made nine three-pointers and dominated the Gorillas for the conference win.  Pitt shot 35% from the field and connected on seven of 23 three-point tries.

The Gorillas were picked fifth in the MIAA Coaches poll and fourth in the MIAA Media poll after finishing 14-14 and 12-8 in the MIAA a season ago.
