Between 1962-65, T.J. Jackson was an exciting player on several outstanding Bulldog football teams, two of which won conference championships. Mr. Jackson was named to the All-MIAA second team as a senior. He was primarily a wingback, and as a junior, he ran only 71 times but gained 620 years to lead the team in rushing and the conference in average per carry (9.1). In the same season, Mr. Jackson recorded his career best game by gaining 197 yards on 11 carries and scoring touchdowns on runs of 60, 56, and 51 yards against Arkansas Tech. After graduation in 1966 he worked as a supervisor for Wagner's Casing in Decatur until 1969 when he was drafted into the Army. He played football in the service and was on the All-Europe team. After his military obligation, he worked in the Decatur School System as athletic coach, guidance counselor and dean of students, was personnel director for the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Ill., and worked in the General Motors personnel department in Warren, Ohio before returning to the Decatur area in 1989 to work for State Farm Insurance Company. As a State Farm agent, he won the Top Hat award as the leading agent in the state and three Soaring Eagle awards as the top sales person in life and health.
