RESULTS
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Thrower Jacob Morris kicked off his senior indoor season by breaking his own school record in the men's weight throw as Truman State Track & Field teams competed at the Mel Tjeersma Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.
Morris was the only competitor to throw over 19 meters in the first round and was never threatened for the event title. His fifth throw was his best as the implement flew 19.92 meters, which broke the meet record and his own school record. The TSU mark was 19.88 meters. It was also an NCAA Provisional distance.
He finished second in the shot put with a distance of 15.97 meters trailing winner Lucas Trotter of Missouri Western by a slim margin (16.02 meters). Tyler Davis was fourth (14.83m) and Alex Long was sixth (14.07m).
Meet Highlights:
- Kelly Hoskins took third and Zach Dodson fifth in the pole vault. Hoskins cleared 4.05 meters and Dodson went over 3.60 meters.
- Brycen Compton was third in the men's 800 with a time of 1:58.40. Ryan Gustafson was fifth in 2:00.04.
- Cooper Doolin placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.02.
- Raina Baker led a trio of Bulldog women's to top finishes in the 300-meter run. Baker finished third in 43.32, Kendall Dascher was fourth in 44.64 and Lyla Rider was sixth in 47.04.
- Esme AuBuchon placed fourth in her first collegiate high jump. AuBuchon passed over 1.56 meters.
- The women's 4x400 relay team finished fourth with a time of 4:13.34. Running in the relay was Addison Walker, Dasher, Audrey Gilmore and Baker.

The teams will compete next Saturday at the Dutch Holiday Preview hosted by Central (Iowa) College in Pella.
