More Bests For Bulldogs In FInals Meets Before Break

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State Track & Field teams competed on Saturday with the majority of the squads heading to the Central (Iowa) Dutch Holiday Preview and three Bulldog women facing top competition in Iowa City at the Jimmy Grant Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa.

At the Central Dutch Holiday Preview, Addison Walker, Jacob Morris and Destiny Zimdars were double winners for the Bulldogs. Walker swept the long and triple jumps, and Morris and Zimdars claimed both the shot put and weight throws.

Walker flew 10.83 to beat teammate Audrey Gilmore's mark of 9.70. In the long jump, Walker posted a 5.24 meter distance and Hailey Derboven was third at 4.82 meters. Both of those marks for Walker were personal bests.

Zimdars won the weight throw with a mark of 13.80 meters and the shot put with a distance of 9.47 meters.

Cooper Doolin and Esme AuBuchon were also winners for the Bulldogs at the meet. Doolin ran the fastest time in the 60 meter dash of 7.06 with Alex Long third at 7.36. AuBuchon was the only competitor to clear 1.57 to win the women's high jump.

Raina Baker and Kendall Dasher ran in the 600 meter run in Iowa City and both finished second in their respective heats. Baker ran a PR time of 1:37.38 to finish sixth overall and Dasher nearly eclipsed her PR running 1:42.76 to place eighth. Her best in the event is 1:42.70.

Addie Mathis ran in the women's mile and finish sixth with a PR time of 5:07.04, her previous best was 5:22.42 in the mile.

Meet Highlights:

  • The Bulldog men went first through fourth in both throwing events. Morris won the Shot Put at 15.89 and the Weight Throw with 19.32. Tyler Davis was second in the shot (15.36), followed by Alex Long (14.05) and Leithym Messer (12.91).
  • In the Weight Throw, Messer was second (15.18) with Jackson Figo third (12.22) and Davis fourth (12.02).
  • Audrey Gilmore placed second in the triple jump and was third in the 300 meter dash.
  • Max McMullen and Zach Dodson tied for second in the men's high jump with both clearing 1.87 meters.
  • Kelly Hoskins was second in the pole vault (4.05m) and third in the long jump (6.13m).
  • Nolan Henslee won the silver in the men's 600 meter run (1:27.36).
  • Nick Fuess was second in the men's triple jump (11.85).
