BSN, RN Truman State University, Kirksville, MO 2005

I am highly motivated with excellent communication, assessment, teaching, and clinical skills.  I am a professional who is flexible, creative, and focused on optimum outcomes for patients, families, and students.  In addition, I am passionate about ensuring high quality healthcare delivered in all clinical and educational settings.

Since 2011, I have had the opportunity to educate nursing students. I have taught Fundamentals of Nursing, Pediatrics, Informatics in Healthcare, Caring in Professional Nursing, Clinical Concepts/Processes in Population-Focused Nursing, and Management/Leadership courses.  All have been wonderful opportunities that have allowed me to grow as an educator and help shape our future nurse leaders.

In addition to this, I was a certified Surgical Clinical Reviewer.  I improved the quality of surgery by reviewing, analyzing, and suggesting areas of improvement for sub-specialties of surgery for the American College of Surgeons National Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP).  I love that as a nurse I can make an impact on the quality of healthcare by working with multidisciplinary staff.

With all my nursing experience I hope to supplement my work with applicable real-life examples and evidenced based research.  The movement of using evidence based research has been a dynamic part of my education and career path that I have much to share and teach.  Reviewing clinical problems that I have come across and how to formulate the right questions to get to the right answer will drive the topics.  In addition, using current events and relating them to what is being taught will be a theme through the course.  Having applicable implications will help solidify what you are learning.

I love the flexibility and challenges that the profession offers in so many different areas of healthcare. I look forward to sharing my passion with you.
