M. Elsa Soto Leggett, PhD, LPC-S (TX), RPT-S, CSC (TX)
Dr. Leggett earned her PhD in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (CACREP Accredited). She has worked in higher education as a counselor educator since 2004. She is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in TX. She also holds certifications as a registered play therapist supervisor and professional school counselor (TX). Her clinical experience, research, and publications focus on children and adolescent counseling, counseling in schools, solution focused counseling, play therapy, and clinical supervision. She participated in the development of the Association for Child & Adolescent Counseling (ACAC), the 20th division of American Counseling Association. She serviced as the president of ACAC 2013 – 2015 and as ACA Governing Council representative 2016 – 2019. She currently services on the editorial board for the Journal of Child and Adolescent Counseling since 2014. Dr. Leggett currently serves as the president elect for the Texas Counseling Association. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles, book chapters, and presented at local, state, regional, national, and international conferences. In 2017 she co-edited Directive play therapy: Theory, technique, and treatment.
