Lindsay Lennon Picht is an emerging artist based in Missouri. Throughout her life, drawing and painting have stayed constant means of expression, communication, and exploration for her.
In her work, she focuses on domestic, interior spaces that she has lived in for different amounts of time. Hotel rooms and apartments appear in her work because they reflect the travel and changes in her life. She has pared down her exploration of painting to an even more restricted medium, working primarily in watercolor, watercolor pencil, and occasionally gouache. She uses the unique translucent qualities of this medium to interrupt the sense of safety and security expected within a private domestic room. She manipulates space, overlaps objects, and strives to create a feeling of both confusion and softness within her paintings.
Lindsay was born in Mt. Kisco, NY, and has moved around to Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Missouri in her childhood. Since then, she has gotten the oppurtunity to travel to many places in Europe, and lived for two semesters in Düsseldorf, Germany during her Master's program.
