Associate professor Tubongbanua is currently completing his Doctorate in Education (EdD) with an emphasis in Nursing Education at the University of West Georgia, where he is in the dissertation phase. A native of the Philippines, he brings over 15 years of combined experience as a nurse and educator in both the Philippines and the United States. He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Nursing from the University of St. La Salle in the Philippines.

Nursing Curriculum Development:
He plays an active role in the ongoing improvement of the BSN program at Truman, demonstrating strong expertise in curriculum development processes, program quality and improvement, instructional design, and assessment and evaluation methods. As the AACN Essentials Champion for the nursing department, he makes significant contributions to aligning the curriculum with the accreditation standards. He is actively engaged in the Missouri State Board of Nursing (MSBN) and CCNE self-studies, supporting the nursing department’s accreditation initiatives. A committed advocate for integrating Caring Science into nursing education curricula, he and his doctoral classmates presented an abstract exemplifying their online RN-to-BSN curriculum model based on Watson's Caring Science theoretical framework at the AACN Transform 2024 Conference in New Orleans, LA.

SERVICE:
He actively contributes to various university and nursing organizations. Currently, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses in North America (SIENNA), and as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses (JSIEN). Additionally, he is the faculty sponsor of the Nursing Student Association (NSA) at Truman State University, as well as the current AACN Essentials Champion for the Nursing Department. He is also an engaged member of the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) Greater St. Louis Chapter, and the American Nurses Association (ANA).

RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP:
Professor T. has published and presented his scholarly work at various peer-reviewed nursing and educational conferences, contributing to the advancement of nursing science, education, and practice. He enjoys collaborating on research with fellow educators, students, and nurse researchers. Additionally, he is regularly invited to serve as a peer reviewer for nursing journals and conferences. In his role as a McNair Faculty Mentor at Truman, he provides guidance, support, and mentorship to his mentee, who is conducting research and preparing for graduate studies. His goal as a McNair mentor is to help his mentee navigate the academic and research process, equipping him with the necessary skills and knowledge for success in graduate education. Additionally, he serves as a faculty research sponsor for undergraduate nursing students, where he has mentored several student-led research projects. Many of these projects have been presented at student research conferences as well as peer-reviewed nursing conferences.

His diverse experience in nursing education, research, and practice reflects his commitment to advancing the discipline and profession of nursing, ensuring that nursing students are caring, well-prepared, and competent in their practice.
