Cross Connections International Design Exhibition
Cross Connections International has been a prominent global design event and festival in academia since its inception in 2009. This collaborative event will feature approximately 120 artworks encompassing a wide range of visual art forms, including print-based visual communication design, screen-based video and animation, and user-centered design across both traditional and emerging media. The work featured comes from over 10 North American institutions as well as Portugal, Belgium, China, Korea, and Taiwan.

Letting Go – Lindsey Dunnagan
Featuring paintings by Lindsey Dunnagan following her return from sabbatical, Letting Go explores clouds and open sky as spaces of transition, where forms emerge, dissolve, and reappear. Moving between observation and abstraction, the paintings use layered color, atmosphere, and shifting light to evoke sensations of suspension, impermanence, and release. Through gradual changes in surface and tone, the work reflects on uncertainty, surrender, and the instability of control.

This exhibition highlights work by Rusty Nelson, Matt Derezinski, and Aaron Neeley, showcasing a range of approaches to contemporary image-making. From Nelson’s transparent watercolor paintings to Derezinski’s layered photographic landscapes rich with symbolism and texture, and Neeley’s background in graphic design, web media, and visual communication, the exhibition explores intersections of narrative, technology, landscape, and visual storytelling across diverse media and practices.

Love Bomb – Kenneth Hall
Kenneth Hall’s solo exhibition, Love Bomb, examines themes of identity, nostalgia, and personal mythology through mixed media and sculptural installations. His work reinterprets personal and collective memory, creating visually arresting pieces that juxtapose found objects, pop culture imagery, and text-based compositions. Love Bomb invites viewers to explore the intersections of love, conflict, and cultural commentary.

Still Life with Bowl of Universe – Ari Norris & Timothy Norris
This collaborative exhibition by Ari Norris and Timothy Norris explores still life as a conceptual framework for understanding personal and universal narratives. Through painting and sculpture the artists challenge traditional still life compositions, incorporating contemporary themes of time, impermanence, and metaphysical inquiry. Still Life with Bowl of Universe invites audiences to reconsider the genre in an era defined by rapid technological change and shifting realities.

Terra Fracta – William McKinney
Welcoming the newest addition to the Truman State University Art Department, William McKinney’s exhibition Terra Fracta presents ceramic sculptures exploring the tension between industry and the natural world. Drawing from the environmental impact of coal and natural gas extraction in West Virginia and Appalachia, McKinney uses color, texture, glaze, and layered imagery to evoke both destruction and resilience. Terra Fracta invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s impact on the earth and the fragile beauty that persists within it.

Floating Curiosities – Marissa Andropolis
Marissa Andropolis’ solo exhibition Floating Curiosities explores the complexities of identity, perception, and self-representation through intimate, multi-sided portraits. Her work challenges the traditional role of portraiture by juxtaposing the subject’s carefully curated exterior with their concealed inner realities. Andropolis creates layered narratives that invite viewers to look beyond appearances and confront the tension between how we present ourselves and how we are perceived. Through veiling and unveiling, she deconstructs identity, blurring the line between authenticity and illusion. By incorporating herself into her work, she reclaims agency over the gaze, highlighting the fluid nature of selfhood and the ever-shifting dynamics of social perception.
