Why did you choose Truman?

I chose Truman because it was a good distance from home and worked with my family’s financial situation.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose my major after talking to a girl who lived on my floor who already was a Health Science major. She was talking to me about the things she’s learning and the values of the major and I realized that I was super interested in the things she was saying, so I declared the major and took the intro classes and I love it now!

Now that you are a student, what do you like most about being a Truman student?

I love the community at Truman. It’s small enough so that whenever I’m walking to class I’ll always say hi to someone I know, but big enough to meet new people all the time.

What piece of advice would you give to first-year students?

Join a club, hang out in the lounge on your floor, and go out of your way to introduce yourself to people.

What is your best or favorite experience of your first year at Truman?

My favorite experience this year was being a part of the musical last semester. I had done theatre all throughout high school and I knew I didn’t want to major in it, so I didn’t expect to have anything to do with theatre at Truman. One day, someone told me signups were available to audition for the musical and I just decided to do it at the last second. I didn’t think I had a chance because I was a freshman non-major, but I actually got a part and had an incredible time making new friends and being a part of something that had been so important to me my whole life

What is your favorite thing about living in Kirksville?

My favorite thing about Kirksville is Pancake City. Not even embarrassed about that.
