Early Bird Housing Incentive

Truman is now offering an Early Bird housing discount for current first-year students who are living on campus.  If you commit to living in an on-campus residence hall or apartment for the 2022-2023 academic year, you are eligible for up to $1,400 in discounts towards your housing and meal fees for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Who qualifies for the Early Bird Incentive?

This is a special offer only available to current first-year students living on campus this year (including first-year international and transfer students) who want to live on campus again next year. Staying on campus a second year has shown to be a contributing factor to student success and graduation rates. Our hope is that by making living on campus a second year easier, we can help students achieve their goals and graduate successfully.

How much can I save?

By signing up for the Early Bird Incentive this fall, you will receive a housing credit of $500 per semester for the 2022-2023 academic year. This discount will simply reduce your housing charges, so even if you choose to still have a roommate next year, you can take advantage of this discount for even greater housing cost savings. For some students, the reduction can help offset the cost to live in a single room or a double-room buyout as an upper-class student.

Students returning to live in the residence halls have a new meal plan option that was not available to you as a first-year student. The 12-meals-per-week meal plan comes at a cost savings of approximately $200 per semester when compared to the 15-meals-per-week meal plan, which is most commonly selected by first-year students. To see more about the meal plan options available, click here.

By committing this fall to live on campus again next year you have the opportunity to save up to $1,400 next year in housing and dining fees!

How does this affect the rest of my housing renewal?

Signing up for the Early Bird Incentive does not limit the housing options available to you at the time of room selection during the housing renewal process next spring. The whole housing renewal timeline can be found here.

To take advantage of the Early Bird discount, students must complete this form between October 14th and the last day of final exams for the fall semester (December 17th).  Students who renew housing after this date are not eligible for the discount.

Please note:  If you complete this form to receive the Early Bird Incentive and you DO NOT select a room by April 1st for the 2022-2023 academic year, you will forfeit your current housing deposit ($125).
