Hiring for 2023-24
Applications are now open for 2023-24 Hall Desk positions. Complete your application here by Sunday, March 19. At the hall desk we help students fully enjoy their experience living on campus. We offer two positions on the Residence Life Hall Desk Support Staff. Those include:
Hall Desk Associates
Desk Associates staff the hall desk and assist residents with equipment rental, mail, packages, and room lockouts. They log in packages and check them out to recipients. They also direct residents and guests to appropriate resources in the area. Staff is expected to greet everyone who enters the building or comes by the desk. Other tasks may include assistance with administrative tasks and distributing community materials. Hours include mornings and afternoons; all employees work rotating weekends.
Mail Clerks
These staff members are responsible for getting all packages and mail to the residents in their assigned residence hall. A mail clerk takes the mail that Mail Services delivers and puts it into the students’ mailboxes. They also forward misdirected mail and packages. Hours include morning and afternoons; and all employees work rotating weekends.
Both Positions
Applicants for all positions must be able to utilize internet-based computer programs, communicate effectively (both written and in person), offer high-quality customer service, greet and welcome residents and guests, and maintain confidentiality. Employees will need to work rotating weekend shifts. The hall desk is closed for weeklong breaks (Thanksgiving, Spring Break) and Winter Break. The hall desk is open over short breaks (Labor Day, Fall Break, MLK Day, Term Break, Student Research Conference Day). Staff are expected to fulfill their shifts over these short breaks or switch shifts with another desk employee.
Open Positions During the Academic Year
Hiring for Hall Desk support staff is traditionally done in the Spring semester (February-March) prior to the next academic year. If positions open during the academic year they are posted on Trupositions for any Truman student to apply.
