May Commencement: Info for Families & Friends

The Commencement ceremony celebrates the achievements of Truman State University students and honors the accomplishments of distinguished speakers and guests. The information below might be helpful as you plan your trip to Kirksville.


12:30 p.m.Family and friends start arriving at Stokes Stadium. The stadium will open promptly at 12:30 p.m., and staff will be handing out programs. Open seating.
12:30 p.m.Graduation candidates should be arriving at Baldwin Auditorium.
1:15 p.m.Faculty arrive and rank is closed by the Grand Marshal.
1:30 p.m.The Processional begins moving toward Stokes Stadium.
1:55 p.m.The Processional enters Stokes Stadium.*
2 p.m.Commencement Ceremony
RECEPTION: A reception will be held immediately following Commencement (likely 4 p.m.). Due to the inclement weather, the reception will be held inside the Student Union Building instead of being outdoors on the mall.
*We ask that everyone stand as the graduates enter the arena. Our faculty will form two lines and greet the students as they enter the staging area. Once the faculty has moved to their seats, the President will begin the ceremony. When the ceremony has concluded, we ask that everyone remain in their seats until the students have exited the arena.
