Physics Student Organizations
Society of Physics Students
Truman’s active chapter of this national organization provides opportunities for social interaction and service among students interested in physics. The Truman chapter runs a physics tutoring service for all students of physics. They bring physics demonstrations to local elementary schools to help inspire a love of science in young students, and they take educational field trips to national laboratories. They have also been known to play paintball against the biologists, and get together to watch bad science fiction movies.
Sigma Pi Sigma

Women in Physics
This social organization supports females in the physics and engineering community. WIP members visit local elementary schools to promote interest in science. They also attend the annual Women in Physics Conference where they meet other female physicists from around the country. WIP is open to anyone interested in physics.
Star Gazers Astronomy Club
The Star Gazers astronomy club is a local student organization open to anyone interested in astronomy. A favorite activity is observing the stars at the Physical Sciences Department’s observatory located at the University Farm.
