Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)
The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at Truman State University is designed for individuals who have already completed a Bachelor’s degree in another major who want to pursue a Bachelor of Science in nursing. The accelerated nursing program can be completed in 18 months of class and clinical experiences.
How to Apply
Applying to the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program requires two applications:
- Truman State University application
- A separate application for admission to Truman’s Department of Nursing
A student accepted or enrolled at Truman will need to apply to nursing. A student who has graduated from Truman will need to re-apply to Truman and apply to nursing. The ABSN Nursing application deadline is July 1 each year.
Applications will be reviewed only after acceptance to Truman State University. While applications may be submitted at any time, applying earlier than July 1 is encouraged. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.
Students who have completed a previous bachelor’s degree and specified pre-requisite courses may complete the suggested program for the ABSN in 18 months of study. Courses start in the summer. Students anticipating admission to the ABSN program may be allowed to register for some of the Nursing (NU prefix) courses. The number of applicants accepted for admission into nursing each year is limited. The nursing admissions committee seeks to select the most qualified applicants for admission. Admission to the program is dependent upon an individual evaluation of the applicant materials and the number of available seats.
