NOTES:
- Because of the individualized nature of the Social Issue Advocacy major, students have a lot of choices in their coursework. Students should plan ahead and think seriously about which courses make the most sense for them. This plan should be reviewed regularly and in conjunction with their academic advisor.
- (^) - The SIA major requires at least 15 hours of electives. Majors have a choice of two options:
- Option 1 is to declare a minor from a list of 19 minors (see SIA page in the University Catalog),
- Option 2 is to complete 5 courses from a list of choices (see SIA page in the University Catalog)
- (*) - The SIA major has 5 areas of courses to help students gain a well-rounded understanding of advocacy. These areas include: (1) theory, (2) research methodology, (3) history/structure, (4) institutions, and (5) principles of advocacy.
- (^^) - The Bachelor of Science degree requires the SIA major to take ECON 201: Principles of Microeconomics (3 cr) OR ECON 205: Principles of Economics (5 cr). It also requires and additional class in either ECON, PSYC, SOAN, STAT, or MATH. More detail can be found in the University Catalog.
- WE = Writing Enhanced course
- The Dialogues curriculum requires a certain number of courses/credit hours in the following Perspectives: Social, Arts and Humanities, STEM, Communications, and Statistics. The exact number of courses a student will be required to take during their undergraduate career varies individually according to the credit transferred in.
