Dr. West has been at Truman since 1995. She received her doctorate in history from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She holds a master's degree in Russian and East European studies from Yale University and a bachelor's degree in Russian studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. West's book entitled, I Shop in Moscow: Advertising and the Creation of Consumer Culture in Late Tsarist Russia, was published by Northern Illinois University Press in 2011. Her teaching interests include all of Russian history, world history, and modern European history. She is a member of the Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies, the American Historical Association and the World History Association. Dr. West has been active in Advanced Placement programs since the inauguration of AP World History in 2002.
