MSG Robert E. Points is a native of Andover, Minnesota.  He entered the United States Army National Guard on February 4th 2002 as an Infantryman and 9 months later switched service to the Regular army on November 5th 2002.  He attended One Unit Station Training at Ft. Benning Georgia.  During his career he has served as a driver, Bradley gunner, Senior Scout Observer (SSO), Assistant Team leader (ATL), fire team leader, Stryker vehicle commander, Squad Leader, Scout Team Leader (TL), WTU cadre squad leader, Heavy Weapons Section Sergeant, S-3 NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, and Company First Sergeant.

 

MSG Points’ assignments include; Division G3, 34th Infantry Division (Red Bull); Delta Company 2nd Battalion 9th Infantry (Manchu) 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey Korea; HHC 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry Regiment 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum NY; C Co 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment; HHC 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks HI; A Co Warrior Transition Unit (Cadre) Ft. Meade, MD; D Co 1st Battalion 87th Infantry Regiment, A Co 1st Battalion 87th Infantry Regiment 10th Mountain Division; 2nd Battalion 10th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Chemical Brigade; 1st Battalion 501st Infantry Regiment 4th Brigade 25th Infantry Division (ABN), 3rd Battalion 509th Infantry Regiment 4th Brigade 25th Infantry Division (ABN), HHT 1-40th Cavalry Squadron 4th Brigade 25th Infantry Division (ABN) JBER, AK. MSG Points has deployed to twice to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan.

 

MSG Points’ military education includes; combat lifesavers course, junior leadership development course, mountain leaders orientation course, Warrior Leaders Course (WLC), combatives level 1 and 2, Advance Leaders Course (ALC) Senior Leaders Course (SLC), Master Leaders Course (MLC) Recon and Surveillance Leaders Course (RSLC), Warrior Transition Cadre Course for Squad Leaders and Platoon Sergeants, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course (EOLC), Asymmetric Warfare Adaptive Leaders Program (AWALP), Master Resiliency Trainers Course (MRT), anti-terrorism officer basic, Ranger School, Airborne school, Drill Sergeant course, Cold Weather Orientation Course, Master Educators Course, and the University Senior Leaders Course.

 

MSG Points’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with C device (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal with C device (6 OLC), Good Conduct medal (5th award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (4 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 6), Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge,  German Troop Duty Proficiency Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachutist badge, Drill Sergeant identification badge, and is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

 

MSG Points is married to the former Sarah Wahler of Pasco, Washington. They have two beautiful children Robert (5) and Kaylyn (3).  His hobbies include snowboarding, hunting, and hiking.
