Michael has been a member of the Health and Exercise Sciences faculty at Truman State University since the fall of 1995. Dr. Bird serves as a research mentor for several student projects.
His research involves how sport performances differ among athletes of varying skill levels and how the results of biomechanical analyses can be applied by the practitioner. He and his students have presented and published work at regional, national, and international levels.
Outside of his professional activities, Dr. Bird likes spending time with those most important to him, his wife Evonne, children Koby, Keegan & Kelsey, and dog Snickers. Time permitting, he indulges himself in activities such as mountain biking, woodworking, and reading about automobiles.
