Jacqueline Collett, Professor of Voice at Truman State, teaches applied voice, class voice, and music education. She received her Bachelor of Music at The University of Texas at El Paso, and her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Arizona, where she specialized in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, and music education. Before joining the Truman State faculty in 1992, Dr. Collett taught extensively in the public schools of Texas and Arizona, and was a member of the voice faculty at Pima Community College in Tucson. She has performed major roles in El Paso with the University Civic Opera, the Gilbert and Sullivan Company, and appeared with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, and in Tucson with the Young Audiences of Southern Arizona and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Her many opera performances include roles from Cosi fan tutte, The Marriage of Figaro, Die Fledermaus, The Rape of Lucretia, La Boheme, The Tales of Hoffman, The Crucible, The Impresario, Hansel and Gretel, and The Magic Flute. In addition, Dr. Collett has also appeared as soprano soloist in Carmina burana and Brahms' Requiem with the University Symphony and Chorus at Truman State.
