The Science of Happiness, The Art of Contemplation

Free online workshop taught by Adam Campbell, sponsored by the Philosophy & Religion Department and JED Committee. Over the past generation, a new branch of study has emerged—positive psychology—studying what truly brings happiness into our lives. This workshop will investigate the latest discoveries in human behavior and neuroscience to explore what makes us happy (and what doesn’t!), and how these findings are pointing to the necessity of the spiritual path. We will explore the essence of this path and the wealth of transformative practices it offers, both through universal mindfulness practices and Christian contemplative practices. This workshop is for all students who have ever struggled with anxiety, felt that there must be more to life, have earnestly been seeking “a path,” or who have felt disenchantment with the religious tradition in which they were raised.
