Interference of electromagnetic waves has long been an essential tool for high-precision measurements in a broad range of fields, and classical wave theory is sufficient to explain most interference phenomena. But distinctly quantum effects appear when entangled multi-particle states interfere. In this talk, an overview is given of two-photon quantum interference, with a brief discussion of potential applications in quantum information processing and astronomical measurements.
