Graduate student Josh Warren performs his Graduate Conducting Recital with University Chorus, while graduate student Carter Datz performs his Graduate Conducting Recital with a Chamber Choir of mixed voices as well as Truman’s premiere choir, Cantoria. Truman faculty member and Director of Choral Activities, Mark Jennings, bridges these two recitals with a contemporary setting of the “Magnificat.”
University Chorus will perform several sacred works followed by a selection of American folk songs such as “American Indian Songs” by Kenneth Jennings and an arrangement of “Wade in the Water” by Mark Hayes. The center of the concert will feature senior vocal performance major Cady Thomas, soprano, and Emily Zuber, flute, in Jean Berger’s Magnificat. Finally, the Chamber Choir will perform five madrigals spanning the centuries from the Renaissance to present day, and Cantoria will perform a varied selection of pieces with accompaniment ranging from classical guitar to bluegrass band.
