Dr. Michelle Lyttle Storrod has a PhD in Childhood Studies from Rutgers University Camden and a Master’s in Children, Youth & International Studies from Birkbeck University London. Michelle has over a decade of experience working with young people involved in the juvenile justice system in the UK and has spent 4 years volunteering and researching with young people in the US system. Michelle is currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Widener University and sees herself as a pracademic.
In this zoom seminar, Michelle will talk about how her interdisciplinary background in Childhood Studies guided her work with the Metropolitan Police, the UK Ministry of Justice, the NHS, school nurses and in the management of the largest violence prevention charity in Europe. Michelle will also discuss how having a unique insight into researching with children has been an asset to her career in the US and UK. This seminar will provide students with the opportunity to think and learn about the many pathways Child Studies offers both in and outside of academia at home and abroad.
