An Evening with Akela Cooper

Akela Cooper is a 2003 alumna of Truman and has agreed to have a virtual conversation about her personal and professional experiences. This is event is a collaboration between CDI and The Film Club planned for Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. The conversation will be moderated by Eliana Moore and Rob Garner.

Cooper is a television and feature writer whose credits include the current Warner Bros. release “Malignant,” directed by James Wan; Her movie “M3GAN” wrapped production earlier this summer under Universal/Blumhouse with James Wan/Atomic Monster producing and Gerard Johnstone directing. Additionally, she is currently writing “The Nun 2” for New Line/Atomic Monster and The Safran Company.

On the TV side, Cooper is currently an Executive Producer on “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” for Paramount Plus. Previously, she worked on Steve DeKnight’s Netflix series, “Jupiter’s Legacy,” based on a comic book series by Mark Millar. She also worked on Netflix/Marvel drama series “Luke Cage” and the Ryan Murphy FX series “American Horror Story,” as well as “The Hundred,” “The Witches of East End,” “Grimm” and “V.”
