About Truman State University National Spirit Day

In 2011, the Truman Alumni Board of Directors started a new tradition when they designated the first Friday in April and the first Friday in October as Truman State University National Spirit Days. In 2017, the Board elected to focus on one day per year, naming the first Friday in October as National Spirit Day.

The idea was born from a spirit day initiated by Truman’s Kansas City Alumni Chapter. The purpose of Truman State University National Spirit Day is to promote Truman to prospective students and to give alumni and friends an opportunity to display their pride in their alma mater; the day also creates awareness of the University locally, nationally and internationally.

Truman State University’s National Spirit Day is sponsored by the Truman State University Alumni Association and Truman’s Student Government.
