Details for Alumni Participating in the Golden Alumni Diploma Ceremony
Alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago (and who have not previously participated) are encouraged to join us at Homecoming for Truman State University’s annual Bulldog Forever Banquet where you can participate in the Golden Alumni Diploma Ceremony (advance registration requested). University President Sue Thomas will present each individual participating in the ceremony with a commemorative diploma, courtesy of the Truman Alumni Association. In addition to the Golden Alumni Diploma Ceremony, the celebration will include recognition of other Homecoming honorees.
Date, Time & Location
The Homecoming Celebration will be held Georgian Room in the Student Union Building on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at 5 p.m.
How the Diploma Ceremony Works
Golden Alumni can begin checking in at the Alumni Room at 4:15 p.m. We will provide graduation caps and gowns and a place to dress for the ceremony. If you wish to bring your own hood from your advanced degrees, feel free to do so. If you prefer not to wear a robe, that is also acceptable. Once everyone has their cap and gown in place, the proceed into to the Georgian Room through a side door to begin the Diploma Ceremony.
When your name is called, you will walk across the front of the Georgian Room to be presented with your commemorative diploma by University President Sue Thomas. Be sure you take time to pause for a photo by the University photographer. Once you receive your diploma, you can move the tassel on your cap from the right to the left side.
After you are presented with your diploma, you will return to your seat to enjoy the rest of the program. After the celebration, you will return your cap and gown but can keep your tassel as a memento of this special event.
We will have staff available to direct you through each step!
Parking
During Homecoming weekend, you WILL NOT need a guest pass or parking decal to park on campus.
RESERVED PARKING for Banquet on FRIDAY EVENING: The parking lot north of the Student Union Building on Franklin Street will be reserved for alumni participating in the Golden Alumni Diploma Ceremony and other honorees attending the Homecoming banquet (see parking lot marked in purple on map below).
If space is available, you can park in this lot by giving your name to the person working at the parking lot entrance. There are several handicapped spaces in this lot. There are also handicapped spaces in the parking lot on the south side of the Student Union Building. Other parking lots in close proximity to the Student Union Building are marked on the map below.
NOTE: For the Golden Alumni Reunion Luncheon in the Student Union Building on Saturday, all lots will be open — please park in the lot most convenient for you.
