Orientation Schedule

Both students and families will be provided a personalized schedule upon arrival.

Orientation attendees should plan to be on campus from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. for required activities.

8:00 – 11:30 a.m.

  • Check-In on parking lot (east) side of Missouri Hall
  • Optional Academic Advising Open House: Have questions about your class schedule? Academic advisors with the Center for Academic Excellence in the Pickler Memorial Library will be available to answer your questions.
  • Optional Health Center Checks: Want to make sure you have submitted all your required health forms? Do you have any questions or concerns about healthcare on campus? Our Student Health Center will be open and available to answer your questions!

11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

  • Lunch in Ryle Hall: At check-in, you will receive lunch tickets for you and your guests to enjoy a meal on campus provided by Sodexo.

12:45 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • Travel time from Ryle Hall to the Student Union Building 

1:00 p.m. – 2:20 p.m.

  • Welcome/Presentations (Georgian Room – Student Union Building)
  • Center for Academic Excellence
  • Student Engagement and Rights & Responsibilities
  • Student Panel

2:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • Travel time from SUB to Baldwin Hall

2:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

  • Rotating Informational Sessions – Baldwin Hall
  • Students will be in a group of 10 or less with an orientation leader to learn how to be a Truman Student academically and socially. Orientation Leaders will also review TruView and Brightspace with students to ensure they are ready to succeed! Students will also hear from our Keys to Campus Connections partners to discuss first generation students, opportunities to get involved on campus, and diversity/inclusion on campus.
  • Families/Guests will participate in transition activities, pick up a yard sign to share the great news that their family member is attending Truman, and ask questions of a panel comprised of staff from our Financial Aid, Health Center, and Residential Life offices plus hear from prior freshman and transfer students.

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

  • Ice Cream Sundae Bar on the Quad (Rain Location: Baldwin Hall – Hallway)
