      Truman Today Announcements - Science and Mathematics Sponsors Storyteller The School of Science and Mathematics will sponsor a visit to Kirksville by noted storyteller and author Brian “Fox” Ellis, Oct. 25-26. On the 25th, Ellis will be performing at Ray Miller Elementary and at the Adair County Public Library. On Oct. 26, Ellis will visit with various groups at Truman.

      Book Drive to Benefit Missouri Public Library | Truman Today Features Chad Montgomery, assistant professor of biology, was inspired by the NPR story of Oregon County Library in Myrtle, Mo., which is attempting to revamp and include more modern books. After deciding to send books from his personal library to aid in their efforts, Montgomery has begun to seek out other books from all genres.

      Starting October 8, the Pickler Memorial Library fire replacement project will move to the third floor and general collection L-Z will be unavailable to the public for approximately three weeks. Library staff will pull requested items from affected areas on a limited schedule. To request materials, access the library catalog or ask the library service desk.       As the keynote speaker for the Senior Seminar Capstone Conference, Alumnus Doug Reside will give a presentation on “The Tale of the Ant-Lion: A Digital Humanities Adventure” at 12:30 Thursday, April 27 and on “How Do You Catch a Cloud and Pin It Down?       The Truman campus will experience 98.5% blackout of the sun during Monday's solar eclipse. The Del & Norma Robison Planetarium will be open from 8:00 to 5:00. The planetarium has the ability to simulate the solar eclipse from anywhere in the path of totality and will be running eclipse simulations through the day, as well as broadcasting NASA’s livestream coverage from across the country.       The library is in the process of replacing the fire sprinkler system in the entire building. This critical project started in the summer and will continue through winter break. Study spaces and collections will be temporarily unavailable to the public during construction phases. Currently, work is being done on the east side of the second floor.
