The Truman chapter of the Society of Physics Students has earned an Outstanding Chapter Award from the SPS National Office. This is the second year in a row the chapter has been recognized for its excellence as a top-tier student-led physical sciences organization.

The forensic union placed third in the Lincoln-Douglas debate at the National Forensic Association Championship, hosted in the Santa Ana, California School District, and has once again proven to be a top debate school in the United States. Truman Phi Kappa Phi inducted 86 students, staff and faculty into membership March 25. The honor society is limited to the top 7.5 percent of juniors, top 10 percent of seniors and outstanding graduate students. A small number of exceptional staff and faculty are also invited each year. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams closed out the regular season with wins against Southwest Baptist, Feb. 27, and will now host GLVC tournament games March 3. The women’s team improved to 14-3 on the season. In rankings recently released by Business First, the University comes in at No. 64 in the nation and No. 14 in the Midwest for schools that offer the best educational experiences to their students. The Business First list was limited to public schools because those institutions generally offer the least expensive path toward a college degree. Truman jumped 16 spots on Kiplinger’s list of 500 Best College Values for 2019, coming in as the No. 55 school in the nation. The Kiplinger rankings combine public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges into a single, comprehensive list. Truman is the only Missouri public institution in the top 300.

Truman is the No. 1 public school in the Midwest region according to U.S. News & World Report. This marks 23 years in a row Truman has been the top-ranked school for the region. The University also was included on multiple supplemental rankings, further demonstrating its ability to provide a high-quality education at a reasonable cost.
