Peace Corps Recognizes Truman as a Top School Since the creation of the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 200 Truman graduates have served as volunteers. The Peace Corps ranks its top volunteer-producing schools according to the size of the student body. For the second consecutive year, Truman State University has earned the No. 2 spot in the Master’s University category of the annual Washington Monthly College Rankings. This summer when Duane Benton, a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, was reviewing some 700 applicants for four coveted law clerk positions, three applicants who had a Truman degree rose to the top. “Seeing ‘Truman’ on their resumes means their undergraduate education was as good as it could be,” Benton said.
