How to Search for Courses on Current Course List

Semester schedules and current course lists are available for use by currently enrolled students and advisors via TruView or through the Schedule of Classes and Fees.  The schedule/current course list for the Summer and Fall semesters is usually posted during the first full month of school of the preceding Spring semester.  The schedule/current course list for the Spring semester is usually posted during the first full month of school of the preceding Fall semester.

To access the current course list, either view the Current Course List page, or log on to TruView, select the Student tab, then “Search Current Course List” under Registration.  Select the semester you wish to view, and then follow the directions on the screen.

The information on this open course list is “real time” information.  You can search for courses by course number or name, instructor, part of term (full-term, first block, second block), attribute type, or time and day.   To search multiple subjects, hold down the control key while selecting subject areas. To search all subjects, click on Accounting, then press shift+control+end. To use the open course list, you must select at least one subject. When your selection is complete, click Class Search to perform the search.

Searching by Course Number

You may wish to find all 300-level History courses.  Select “History” in the Subject area, then enter “3%” in the Course Number field.  Click on Class Search to perform the search.

Searching by Key Word in Title

You may want to find all courses that have the word “law” in them if you are focusing on pre-law.  You can select one or more subjects, then enter the word “law” in the title field.  Click on Class Search to perform the search.  Note: you may wish to follow up with another search using the word “legal.”  If your keyword is lengthy, or you know the course titles are usually lengthy, you may wish to enter a partial keyword, followed by a “%.”  For example, to find all courses that focus on “Europe,” you may wish to enter “Eur%” as your keyword.

Searching by Part of Term (Block Courses)

You may want to find all courses that are offered as second block courses.  Select one or more subjects, then select “Second Half Term” in the Part of Term field.  Click on Class Search to perform the search.

Searching by Instructor

You may want to find all courses that are taught by a specific instructor.   Select one or more subjects and then select the instructor.  Click on Class Search to perform the search.  NOTE:  If you wish to quickly scroll down through the alphabet, click on the first name in the list of instructors, then use your keypad to enter the first letter of the last name of the desired instructor name–this will scroll you down to that area of the list.  For example, if you are looking for “Woodcox,” click on “all,” then enter a “W” on your keypad.  You will quickly scroll to “Wandel” at the top of the W list.  You can then arrow down to find Woodcox.

Searching by Attribute Type

You may want to find all General Honors courses that are being offered.  Select one or more subjects and then select “General Honors” in the Attribute Type field.  Click on Class Search to perform the search.

Searching by Ending Time

You may want to search for courses in one or more subjects that end by 3 p.m., for example.  Select one or more subjects, then select End Time Hour as “03” and select “p.m.” Click on Class Search to perform the search.

Finding Textbook Information

Textbook information can be found on the University Bookstore website which provides the International Standard Book Number and retail price information of required and recommended textbooks.
