Why did you choose Truman?

I was looking for two things in an American university: the school should be academically competitive, and it should also be affordable. Truman is the perfect school to satisfy those conditions. The academic standards here are excellent, and Truman’s tuition is extremely reasonable. It was a great fit for me.

What is your favorite thing about Kirksville?

The people are so nice and friendly here! Kirksville is a small and peaceful college town. The people who live here are especially welcoming to the international students! I’ve received so much kindness from total strangers. It has been a great experience.

What has been your favorite class so far?

I’ve enjoyed my Calculus classes the most. I was not a very good student in math when I was in South Korea, and I used to feel frustrated and scared of math. But the professors in the Mathematics Department at Truman are so nice and helpful. They always encouraged me not to give up and eventually helped me to face my fear of math successfully (I got an A in the class!).

How has a Truman education prepared you for your career?

Truman has strong Mathematics and Business programs that challenge me. The organizations that I have joined are great resources for useful information and opportunities like internships, mock interviews, and career advice.

How would you describe your experience making friends?

Since Truman is a small university, it’s easy to get to know the other students here. The American students at Truman are so kind and approachable, and they are very open-minded and curious about international students. I’ve met some of my best friends here at Truman!
