B.A. Music, Truman State University

M.Mus., University of New Mexico

I’m a St. Louis native and Truman alumnus, having graduated with my BA in Music in 2008. After finishing up here at Truman, I moved to Albuquerque, where I earned my Master's in Trumpet Performance from the University of New Mexico and worked as a professional musician and teacher, performing on the weekends and teaching trumpet lessons, preschool music, middle school rock band and college music theory during the week. In 2012 I moved back to the Kirksville area and began working as an advisor at Truman, and it’s great to be back!

My hobbies include music (playing, listening to and discussing), reading, hiking, spending time with my wife and our too-smart-for-her-own-good dog, and a little habit that followed me home from NM: consuming extremely spicy food. Hurts so good!

One of my favorite quotes is from Jim Rohn: “It’s not the blowing of the wind that determines our destination, it’s the set of the sail.”

Oh, and “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water” (Zen proverb). Still chewing on that one.
